Underclass

OK, it’s not often that I find a local band that is actually any good but thanks to a reliable source I think I have.

“Underclass” is a band made up of five lads from Edinburgh, and from what I’ve heard so far they could go far. In the band we have; Kev O’Rourke on the keys, Mikey Robertson on the guitar, Callum Macgillivray with the Beats, Samir Aroud on the Bass and fronted by the superb John Keenan.

From the few songs I have been able to find “Underclass” are hard to put to one genre of music, there is some heavy guitar riffs but also a few punk tones but there is a strong hint of indie, then the vocals could be said to be indie or sometimes a little heavier with some prolonged louder notes. So until the band fall into a category we will just say they are a rock band, a bloody good one.

One of their best tracks is “Beat Your Fist” which has a heavier sound to it and has the potential to be a real head banger. Then the vocal just blew me away as they are really powerful.

“Underclass” have a gig coming up on the 18th of February at the GRV on Guthrie Street so be sure to check them out!

Also check them out on Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.
