Mixset: Plastik Soul

Plastik Soul

Meet Plastik Soul, the new boys on the scene. They’re a production and DJ duo based in the midlands. Drawn together by a passion for bass driven house music and are currently working hard at building their debut e.p, trust us it’s going to be exciting!

We asked them 4 super exciting questions ’cause you know that we’re really creative with our wordz and shit. Yup.

What brought ‘Plastik Soul’ together?
“Myself (Adam Bailey) and Nick (Nick Heath) have been friends for ages both dj’s and dj’ing in the same circles for a few years and Nick had been spinning regular at my MASS night in Tamworth. We always swapped tunes and always had the same record bags. It just felt a natural progression to get into the studio together and that’s how Plastik Soul was born.”

Explain the name Plastik soul?
“The name came from us throwing shit ideas around for ages! There is a night in London called Plastic People (I think its Skreams) and we kinda liked it… Slightly altered it added a k and changed the People to Soul. Its a dig at people who are fake and follow the shit just because everyone else does. I guess we just want to make music because we love music, but we arent going to make shit because its cool or it will sell.”

Who inspires you?
“All 4 of our ears like bass driven house music! It needs to have energy and stand out. People like Shadow Child, Eats Everything, Kry Wolfe and Dusky are really turning us on right now, they are all making good stand out house music stuff that isn’t going to age badly, which is a big problem with house music of late.”

What is your favorite thing to do with a potato?
Potatoes are so versatile man, but if I could only have one sort of potato till I die.. It would have to be a roast potato. Those things fucking rock man!

So there you go, if there is one think you need to know if you’re booking Plastik Soul for you night… Get some Roast Potatoes on the rider! Let’s get into the mix!

This is the first of many Plastik Soul mixtapes, monthly is the plan. Keep your ears open for their PlastikCast’s coming soon, they plan to mix records and talk rubbish about pies and fill you with useless information on what they get up to.

“Hope you dig the mix, its recorded live so its not perfect but hey its live so go spin!”

“Thanks to all who have shown the early support for our music. We have a lot more to come!”

[Mixset] Knife Party

Would it be fair to say that 98.8% of Edinburgh’s dance (or EDM if you’re ‘different’) music lovers love to see the ever popular Knife Party to Edinburgh.  The bass heroes were featured in this months Mixmag. Ya’know, my new addiction. They’ve been killing dance floors all over the world recently but we haven’t seen a new mix from them in a while. So this one is pretty exciting. New electro and dubstep jams all slammed together, we like. The boys couldn’t think of a good name, that’s no problem we don’t give a shit… BASS!
