House Music. It’s a strange genre isn’t it. It can be the best way to start a weekend, getting you up on your feet, ready to hit the dancefloor but then it also gets you mellow, chilled out and relaxed listening to the beats, bass and piano tinkling away.

We love house music so it was only fair to make a little mix with some of the best tracks out at the moment. You may not had heard of some and you may have no idea who any of the producers are but I’m sure you will enjoy this. You will either want to hit the town or hit it on your mp3 player and listen while gazing at the stars.

If you have not heard of the Swedish House Mafia… Where the f**k have you been!?

The Swedish House Mafia is a group of three house DJs and producers: Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. Eric Prydz is a former member of the group. The Swedish House Mafia released their first official single “One” under the name Swedish House Mafia on Beatport on May 26 2010.

SHM Fact of the day: Axwell has said the formation of the Swedish House Mafia occurred when he moved to Stockholm and met Sebastian Ingrosso while drinking, he later met Steve Angello through Ingrosso. “The name is just a random thought.”, as described by Steve Angello, it occurred outside a 7 Eleven at late night while drinking coffee.

This week we’re bring you our Weekend Anthems mix in a house stylee. “We’re in the house, we’re in the motherf**kin’ house”. Some people will like this mix and other’s won’t. That’s what music is all about and that is also why we’re gonna’ try our best to give you another little mix tomorrow full of some hip-hop tracks just ’cause it’s a genre that we don’t usually talk much about.

Anyway we’ve got some we’ll known producers in this weeks mix aswell as some very unfamiliar names unless you live in the “house”.

As promised last week when we kicked this new feature off we’re back again with another little mix full of our top weekend anthems. It’s been a good week for our favourite songs entering the UK Chart’s. New entries into the top ten this week, include Swedish House Mafia/Pharrell, Flo Rida Featuring David Guetta and dubstep’s Magnetic Man Featuring Angela Hunte entering at positions 7, 5 and 10 respectively.

Recently we’ve been lacking on post and inspiration. However, not to fear as we are coming back at you big style with a nice weekly feature where we give you a little ‘mix’ (if you really want to call it that, cause some tunes ain’t mixed properly) for your iPod, Listening in your car or just generally enjoying it via the magic of the internet.

Swedish House Mafia hit the main stage of Miami’s Ultra Music Festival in March to an audience of 60,000 people and have already sold out 5 live dates at Brixton’s Academy, most recently 2 dates in May which has fueled their enviable reputation for their epic live shows.

And their live plans don’t end there. Not only will they host their own tent at Creamfields for the 23nd year running, but they’re also currently soundtracking the summer when they play 16 week residency at Pacha, Ibiza.

The instrumental of ‘One’ was the fastest tracks to get the no.1 on Beatport ever and now Pharrell has gone into the studio with Swedish House Mafia to record ‘One (Your Name)’ featuring his incredible vocals.

Swedish House Mafia consists of three highly successful individual artist; Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Together they have penned hits such as ‘Show Me Love’ and remixed for the industry’s A List including Madonna, Pharrell, The Temper Trap, Kid Sister, N*E*R*D, Kylie, MGMT, David Guetta and Miike Snow. Their next single is rumoured to include a zero seven favourite, Tinie Tempah.

A lot has been said about Magnetic Man, the trio made up of dubstep’s leading lights Skream, Benga and Artwork. It was Artwork who penned the dubstep anthem “Red,” a tune so ahead of its time the genre didn’t yet have a name. He began to mentor two errant teenagers – Benga, who has released two albums and who co-wrote the club hit “Night,” and Skream, whose anthem “Midnight Request Line” took the genre to the nation before his remix of La Roux’s “In For The Kill” sent it worldwide.

Having created a genre of music that has taken hold of youth culture in Britain, anticipation has been building to fever pitch as the band set about unleashing onto the world their debut album. a trail of incendiary live performances across the UK and Europe – from the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and Melt festival in Germany to London club Matter and the warehouse project in Manchester – have left festival goers and clubbers transfixed over the past year. The NME were so convinced of their potential that they featured the band on the cover of their ‘State Of Music Today’ issue back in April.

Now, 2010 looks set to be their year as they prepare for the release of their debut album. The first taste the world will get is “I Need Air,” a track that takes the dark, foreboding beat of dubstep but twists it into an edgy pop gem, complete with vocals from Angela Hunte, better known for co-writing the Alicia Keys track “New York State Of Mind.” It’s certainly a statement of intent and one that looks set to propel Magnetic Man into the stratosphere of contemporary, modern UK pop music.

J Majik & Wickaman should be someone who you already are familier with in the drum & bass world. If not check out this classic from them from back in 2008.

Recently it seems they have crossed over to have a bash at some good old 140bpm, with a few other dubstep tunes forthcoming on their LP ‘Mosquito’. This time they are remixing their own collaboration with vocalist B.Y.O.B on the upcoming single on Loaded Records. You can check the original video below.

Obviously a track not suited to everyone but if all music were the same there would be no discussion, we would have the same artists and life would simply not be as interesting.

I’ve not been as creative as i’d have liked been the last few months. As you can see there has been a lack of posts on zero seven. Lack of a brain has caused me to find anything to give you. Yet, being a sunday and I have nothing to do at the moment I would like to offer you a nice new wallpaper.

As some of you know it’s coming up to the 20th anniversary of the Hands Off Hibs campaign. So, a simple wallpaper with some now iconic words might make their way on to the background of your computer.
