Hollaaaaaaaaa! I hope everyone has been taking full advantage of the four day Scottish summer we’ve been having. I know for me it was an instant taps aff (tops off, for you non-scots) situation. You won’t be surprised to learn that all that taps aff action has required a soundtrack. So as per, I’ve been raiding the blogs all month and here are the tracks that I’ve been figuratively spinning the most.

I love Chromeo. Anyone that’s ever fancied anyone loves Chromeo. I also love ripping electro… A match made in heaven right here then. Shreddie Mercury rips us a new one, in a way reminiscent of early Zedd (more on him to follow). Glorious.

Wolfgang Gartner is undoubtedly my favourite producer and these next tracks just go to show that class has longevity. In a scene where people will often play something for two months, then never again, (except Levels – DEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH. DEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH NEH) it’s good to see that folk are STILL remixing Gartner classics. Here are two such classics which have appeared this month. Last and the furthest thing from least ever, Beatport chart topper Zedd is back with his new single Shotgun and dear God it’s beautiful. This is awesome in the same way Original Don is awesome, in the same way that Scooter is awesome, in the same way that every piece of music ever that’s made you want to jump is awesome. Solar Phoenix and I had the pleasure of seeing Zedd twice at Holy Ship! and he delivered in a meteoric way. Zedd may well be the future.

The musical brain-child of Pendulum members Gareth McGrillen and Rob Swire, Knife Party has been party to one of the most rapid and highly succesful ascents of any band on the scene. Consistently releasing instantly catchy club-bangers since their inception, it’s no surprise that their first release “100% No Modern Talking” is brimming with incredibly danceable beats sure to crush crowds worldwide. It’s a well know fact that we’re huge fans of BBC Radio 1′s Essential Mix Show. The show famous for bringing music fans just a little bit closer to their favorite producers and DJs. Max Vangeli & AN21, famed members of the ‘Size Matters’ crew and wingmen of the Swedish House Mafia play bootleg after bootleg in this mix, blasting anthems one after another. Kaskade’s mix earlier in the year was much talked about but after listening to Max Vangeli and AN21′s mix a few (hundred) times through, it gives Kaskade’s mix a run for the title. When you hear a big tune it’s just something that hits you right away—you know it, you feel it and if you’re the person playing the music you can see it in the crowd. I’m pretty sure that was the case when Avicii first dropped “Le7els” back in January 2011. And here we are today, almost a year down the road and that tune feels like a classic and it’s not even out yet. Well, not yet anyway, but the release is imminent (October 31 to be exact) and we’re pretty certain it’s going to stay one of the biggest records of the year. So few songs actually manage to capture the passion, emotion and general feeling of ecstasy that this tune does.

As a little reminder of the song’s incredible journey from dancefloor to music store take a peep at this teaser video. The footage was captured over the past 12 months from across the world and does a pretty damn good job of summing up, in 2-minutes, the phenomenon that “Le7els” has become.
