Playlist: Gill

Published on April th, 2011

Gill is back to wreck our ear drums with his heavy metal, screaming bansheeness. I think that’s the best way to describe it. It appeals to some so it’s good to have a nice little range of genres here on ZeroSeven. Check out his top 7 rock tracks below.

30 Seconds To Mars – This Is War

Finally 30 Seconds To Mars have made a video for what I personally think is the greatest of all their songs. Taken from their latest album which carries the same name, this song is awesome, with such meaningful lyrics and a clear message within them, and the power at which it is delivered actually gave me Goosebumps the first time I heard it. If you haven’t heard this song yet it is well worth the listen.

Rise Against – Help Is On The Way

Now this next song is from one of my all time favourite bands, they may be a little political with their music but the mixture of old style punk with more modern punk and some metal thrown in there, it is easy to see how they can appeal to a wide audience. This song from their recently released album “End Game” was the second to be released as a single. It has a very catchy chorus that gets stuck in your head and I was pretty much in love with it when I first heard this track.

Yellowcard – For You And Your Denial

After a long wait, Yellowcard final have released a new album called “When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes” and this is the first track to be released from it. With more of a heavy feel to the guitars in the track with the violin backing them up this track works very well together, not many bands pull off the single violin as an instrument of rock but Yellowcard seem to pull it off well. Very good song in my opinion.

Good Charlotte – Last Night

This track describes pretty much perfectly how most of us feel on a Sunday morning after a good night out, very weird music video though, the band are dressed up as a family from the 70/80’s and are taking part in a game show. The track has more of a pop punk feel to it but has a very catchy chorus which you will be singing along to the second time it comes around.

Hollywood Undead – Been To Hell

The latest track to be released from this American rap rock band, mixing heavy guitars with rapping, this band is also one of my favorites, they seem to blur the line between rock music and rap music perfectly, take a look at this track and if you have time go and listen to some more from these guys, you won’t be disappointed.

The Blackout – Higher And Higher

This track from The Blackout mixes metal and punk sounds with a melodic base, very catchy. These six lads from South Wales have made a name from included a few famous names on many of their tracks, artists such as “Ian Watkins” from Lostprophets and “Josh Franceschi” from You Me At Six. This track includes new rap sensation “Hyro Da Hero” and comes from their new album “Hope”.

Amaranthe – Hunger

To finish off this mix we have a little something heavier for you guys in the form of the Swedish melodic metal band “Amaranthe”. This song caught my ear recently when just browsing around music one late night. First of all due to the cinematic feel to the video, and secondly cause the female lead is pretty hot I must say but we won’t go into that now. Not for fans of lighter rock but if you like your rock a little heaver then you are going to love this track.
